Who Decides and How Project
This project examines issues surrounding the capacity of people with an
intellectual disability to make decisions on their own behalf and the role of
families and service providers in such decisions. The
project includes information leaflets on Medical Decisions,
Marriage, Sexual Relationships, Guardianships and voting. These
leaflets can now be viewed.
National Best Practice Guidelines for Informing Families of their
Child’s Disability
These guidelines were developed by the
National Federation of Voluntary Bodies.
The NCSE Implementation Report
This
sets out how the National Council for Special Education believes the
EPSEN Act should be implemented over four years. However,
the Department of Education regards it as an advisory document only.
That is, the timetable set out on pages 151 to 155 is not
being adhered to.

Guidelines on the Individual Education Plan Process

Special Educational to assist schools and parents in the preparation of
Individual Education Plans.
